Dear PTA President:
The 85th Annual Arkansas PTA Convention, the official meeting of the delegate body of the Arkansas PTA, is scheduled for April 30 & May 1, 2010 at the Embassy Suites in Little Rock. Delegates to the convention are elected or selected by their local PTA unit. According to Arkansas PTA Bylaws, Article XVI: State Convention, Section 2 (a); Each PTA unit shall be entitled to be represented at the annual convention by its president, three (3) other officers, or their alternates, and one delegate for each fifty (50) members as shown on the books of the state treasurer.
Any PTA member presenting a 2009-2010 membership card may attend the convention as a non-voting delegate upon payment of the Registration fee. All voting delegates must present a completed credential card and their membership card when they check in at Convention.
I encourage you to take advantage of the Early Bird Registration & Meal Package by March 1 to save $30 per person. Please do not mail registrations after March 20; instead hold your completed registration form and bring with you to the on-site registration table at convention. We will not be able to sell meal tickets after March 20.
The Convention theme is “History of PTA: Past, Present, and Future”. We are excited to bring our members a variety of sessions with various topics. Convention activities include general business sessions, award presentations, workshops, exhibits and a silent auction. During the business sessions the delegates will vote to consider resolutions, amendments to the bylaws and approve the Arkansas PTA’s legislative program.
We are very excited to announce that Teresa Williams, National PTA Secretary-Treasurer will be our National PTA Representative for the 2010 Convention. She will host a Town Hall meeting to discuss the “future” of PTA. Teresa Williams was elected as National PTA Secretary-Treasurer at the 2009 PTA National Convention in Fort Lauderdale. Hailing from Westminster, Colorado, Williams was previously a member of the PTA's National Council of States.
Room rates at the Embassy Suites located at 11301 Financial Centre Parkway in Little Rock are $119 per night (double) which includes a full made to order breakfast buffet and free parking. Please mention Arkansas PTA when making reservations to receive the special convention rate. Room rates are guaranteed until March 29.
The Central Region councils and units have planned a fun and exciting convention. We are looking forward to having record attendance and to seeing you at the 2010 Arkansas PTA Convention. Please review the convention inforamtion on our site to help you plan your convention activities
